After the July 22nd commission's report was published Monday, lawyers for victims and their families think that the financial compensation for victims should be increased.
Â
The July 22nd commission pointed out several flaws in the police's effort during the terror attacks in Oslo and at Utøya last summer. These decisions contributed to making the outcome of the terror worse than it could have been, the report stated.
Â
"For each minute that they could have arrived earlier, lives would have been saved," says the head of the support group for the Utøya victims in Oslo, Jon-Inge Andy Sogn. He thinks the report's findings should have an effect on the estimated compensation for the victims and their friends and family.Â
Â
In addition to an offender, there is a police administration in the picture as well that should have acted sooner, lawyer Svein Kjetil Lode Svensen tells NRK. He expects the government to take the commission's report and its conclusions into consideration, and arrive at a higher level of payments for victims and their families.Â
Â
The current amount set aside for compensation payments if a total of NOK 185 million.
