Summary of Events

Regime forces intensified their military offensive in the northern province of Aleppo where warplanes bombarded the provincial town of Ezaz, levelling dozens of houses, killing more than 70 people and wounding 150 more. The town was then declared a “disaster area” and wounded victims had to be evacuated to hospitals inside the Turkish territory. Regime forces also continued their bombardment of the provincial towns of Atareb, Abzemo and Mayer and the neighbourhoods of Sakhour, Ansari, Hanao, Haydariya, Saif Adola, Kalaseh, Sha’ar, al-Bab Road, Bab al-Hadid and Sheikh Maksoud. Activists said that some ordnance contained white phosphorous.
 
Rebel fighters inflicted heavy losses on regime forces during the clashes that broke out in the neighbourhoods of Sabaa Bahrat, Saladin, Haydariya and Jandoul Ring Road in Aleppo.
 
Heavy clashes broke out in Damascus near the cabinet headquarters and in the neighbourhoods of Kafarsouseh and Mazeh, following an attack carried out by rebel fighters on the Iranian embassy and a blast that targeted the Syrian Army headquarters. Meanwhile, regime forces raided the Mazeh district where they executed 11 civilians and arrested a woman. They also bombarded the neighbourhoods of Tadamon, Qadam, Asaly, Qabun and Barzeh and carried out sweeps and arbitrary arrests in the neighbourhoods of Naher Aisha, Maidan and Bab Msalla.
 
The regime continued for the fifth day its massive military offensive on the Daraa suburb of Tafas, a disaster zone, carrying out sweeps, looting and arson, destroying hundreds of homes and killing more than 20 people. Activists called out for immediate intervention to save the lives of the besieged civilians taking refuge in shelters, where there is a severe shortage of food and medical supplies.
 
Regime forces continued their attacks on the Homs and its provincial towns of Rastan, Talbiseh and Qsair. Regime forces also shelled the Damascus suburbs of Douma, Dmair, Harasta, Erbin, Daraya, Zabadani and al-Tal. They also resumed shelling the city of Daraa and its provincial towns of Heitt, Mahajeh, Um Walad, Inkhe, Karak Sharqi, Ghariya Gharbiay, Ataman, Naima and the Lajat district in the province of Daraa. They begand shelling again the city of Deir Azzour and its provincial towns of Muhassan, Abu Kamal, Hajin, Hasiya and Qalaa as well as the Jabal Akrad district and the village of Aido in the province of Latakia in addition to the Hama suburbs of Taybat Imam and Latmana.
