An increasing number of elderly and mature adults apply for bachelor and master programs, according to recent numbers from the Norwegian Universities and Colleges Admission Service (NUCAS).
Â
Both undergraduate and graduate programs are gaining more popularity among older generations. Almost 6,000 people over the age of 40 applied for university and college programs in 2012.
Â
The number has increased by 38 percent compared to 2011, and is also higher among all other age groups.
Â
Head of research at Nova, Britt Slagsvold, thinks that one of the reasons for the increase in applicants may be people's need for self-realization, which for many weighs more heavily than a career.
