Hamid Ansari gets second rare term as India’s vice president

Hamid Ansari has been elected India’s vice president making the history as he is the only person after Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan to get a second term.

Ruling UPA’s nominee Hamid Ansari got a rare second term as voting ended in India.

Contesting against Mr Ansari was the NDA’s Jaswant Singh, a BJP leader and former Union Minister.

A total of 788 Lok Sabha(lower house of the parliament) and Rajya Sabha(upper house of parliament) MPs were eligible to vote today (Tuesday) and Mr Ansari’s poll managers were expecting him to get at least 500 of those.
