Blast kills 2 people in Pakistan

Blast%2012%206%202012A bomb blast near a passenger bus on Monday killed at least two people and injured dozens of others in southwestern Balochistan province, officials said here. The bomb was attached to a motorcycle and was detonated with the help of a remote control device.

The incident occurred in Mastung district, some 50 km south of Quetta, the provincial capital.

State television earlier reported that nearly 50 people, including women and children, were injured in the blast. Police sources said that nearly 25 people were injured. Seven injured victims were registered critical, doctors at a local hospital said.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital and the critical were taken to Quetta. Locals shifted the injured in private vehicles.

Officials confirmed death of two people. Local TV channels reported four deaths.

Police sources said that the target might have been a bus of Shiite pilgrims, whose convoy passed the area minutes before the bomb hit another bus.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Ambulances arrived at the blast site and started transferring injured to hospitals.

Police and members of other law enforcement agencies arrived at the scene and started shifting the injured.
