US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will arrive in Norway on Thursday evening for a two-day visit during which she will participate in a healthcare conference, meet survivors of the Utøya massacre and travel to Tromsø.
On Friday, Clinton will take part in a major healthcare seminar at Oslo City Hall.“This is a subject that has engaged Clinton from day one, and we have met each other a number of times in connection with this issue,” Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Labour Party) told news agency NTB last week.
At City Hall, Clinton will also meet young survivors of last summer’s shooting massacre on Utøya island.
Clinton then plans to travel north to Tromsø. Although the purpose of her visit to the city has not yet been made public, NTB learned that she will visit the Fram centre, the future home of the Arctic Council’s permanent secretariat.
Clinton’s trip to Norway forms part of her tour of countries in northern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Arriving in Norway from Copenhagen, Clinton will then travel to Stockholm before moving on to Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan and, finally, Turkey.
