Five people were killed and two others injured as two trucks collided on west approach road of Bangabandhu Bridge in Sadar upazila Friday morning. The deceased could not be identified immediately.
Police said a Dhaka-bound truck from the North Bengal collided head-on with another goods-laden truck coming from opposite direction in Soydabad fencing gate area in Sadar upazila on Dhaka-Rajshahi highway at about 6 am, leaving three people dead on the spot.
The four critically injured people were rushed to Sadar hospital where two of them succumbed to their injuries.Police seized the two trucks but the drivers and helpers of the vehicles managed to flee. Vehicular movement was disrupted on the highway for an hour following the accident.
