The first-ever transgender contestant in the Miss Universe Canada pageant has lost her bid to win the title.
Jenna Talackova, 23, who was one of over 60 competitors on Saturday night, was among the final 12 contestants.
She, however, lost to another Vancouver contestant, Sahar Biniaz, 26.
Talackova, who was born a male, underwent a sex change four years ago. A native of Vancouver, she was initially denied entry to the pageant because she was not a natural-born female.
Donald Trump, who runs the Miss Universe organisation, subsequently overruled that decision.
