Norway will begin withdrawing troops from Afghanistan already this coming fall, says Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
At the same time the Norwegian ISAF units will turn the responsibility for their region over to the Afghan security forces.
According to Støre, the withdrawal of Norwegian troops will be completed by the summer of 2013.
Norway has today 512 soldiers engaged in the NATO-led ISAF force in Afghanistan.
The Norwegian troops are deployed in the Balkh province and the Faryab province.
