"We want to make digital mail the general rule for communication between people and governmental administration," Stoltenberg told reporters about the upcoming reform.
The Government wants all suitable services to be offered digitally, and citizens will have to actively choose print-based options if that's what they prefer. The goal, according to Stoltenberg, is to make public services better, easier and more efficient.
"We want to meet people and industries where they are, and when they want to," the Prime Minister explained. 90 percent of people use the Internet every day, and the government will work towards providing a safe, digital mailbox that will ensure easy and secure access for all citizens, in one place.
However, online solutions are not always perfect. Altinn, a program where people can check their income taxes, failed when too many people tried to log on at once earlier this year.
