Canberra. Julian Gillard won the ballot against Kevin Rudd, 71 votes to 31. Tony Abbott says Julia Gillard's victory in the Labor leadership battle is a stay of execution, rather than a new start for Labor. He also said that there were still 31 members of caucus who did not have confidence in Gillard.

While Gillard was saying a good government had been dragged down by a wrecker, Abbott said it was more likely people would see a bad government exposed by a whistleblower.

He also said that public will not quickly forget Kevin Rudd's critique that this was a government that was run by faceless men. According to him, the coalition had a plan to build stronger communities and a cleaner environment based on "real action, not on a great big new tax". Abbott has no confidence to the prime minister.  Abbott reputation for being negative, because he constantly rejected the government's policies, was not deserved. TOT News
