Update Manchester Attack: 22 dead and over 50 injured
May 23, London: The British police have said that 22 people including some children were killed in a suicide attack carried out by one man after a Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.
"We believe, at this stage, the attack last night was conducted by one man," Manchester Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said.
"The priority is to establish whether he was acting alone or as part of a network."The attacker, I can confirm, died at the arena. We believe the attacker was carrying an improvised explosive device which he detonated causing this atrocity."
According to reports, the blast happened at 22:35 BST on Monday following a pop concert by the US singer Ariana Grande.
Greater Manchester Police has established an emergency telephone number in response to the attack.
While the prime minister has suspended her general election campaigning and will chair a meeting of the government's emergency Cobra committee later, in response to the attack. "We are working to establish the full details" of what had happened in Manchester.
"All our thoughts are with the victims and the families of those who have been affected," Mrs May said.
Meanwhile,unconfirmed reports from two unnamed US officials suggests that the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber.
