The Oslo Times Journalist in Afghanistan attacked by armed men
Sept 18, Kabul: The Oslo Times International News Network's journalist in Kabul, Abdulahad Zeerak has been attacked reportedly for a story published on August 19 against the violation of human rights by the Balkh province governor Atta Noor.
The incident took place on Sunday at 3:30 pm local time. According to the journalist the attackers slashed him across his face and neck with a knife, as he was leaving his house, located in the East of Kabul, for an assignment.
The Oslo Times condemns this attack on free media and calls on the Afghan government to take strict action against the perparators.
" We are concerned over the safety of our journalists working in Afghanistan, following this attack. So we would like to call upon the Afghan government to act promptly, to ensure that justice is served, and journalists like Zeerak are safe and such acts of crime against journalists does not continue." The Oslo Times Chief International Correspondent Prabalta Rijal said in a statement issued today.
