The 9th Edition of the Oslo Freedom Forum kicks off in Oslo
May 22, Oslo: The Oslo Freedom Forum (OFF) 2017, kicked off in the Norwegian capital Monday morning.This edition of the annual forum will unite dissidents, activists, artists, journalists, and changemakers in Oslo from May 22-24, 2017.
OFF which has been termed as the the “Davos for human rights,” by the The Economist, will feature reknowned speakers speaker including a Pulitzer Prize-winning author and journalist, a Zimbabwean civil rights activist, a persecuted Ecuadorean political cartoonist, as well as an Iraqi parliamentarian and Yazidi activist. Joining them are defectors from North Korea, whistleblowers from Ghana, CEOs from Silicon Valley, rescue squads from Syria, technologists from Iran, students from Norway, artists from Cuba, and athletes from Pakistan. On Saturday, May 20, there was a screening documentary films featuring members of the Oslo Freedom Forum community. While on Sunday there lively discussions on a variety of human rights topics.
At this year's Tech Lab, some of the world’s leading tech and cybersecurity companies will show the OFF community how to protect their online privacy, use the blockchain and virtual reality for good, and avoid censorship and surveillance.
