Putin jokingly offers Comey Asylum in Russia
June 15, Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin joked that the fired FBI director James Comey is welcome to seek asylum in Russia.
Speaking in his annual phone-in session in Moscow, the Russian President said it was "very strange" that the FBI official had leaked details of conversations with Donald Trump, and likened his actions to those of NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.

Putin said “Russia does not consider the US an enemy, and that the two countries were allies in two world wars.” Putin stated that the anti-Russian sentiment in the US come from internal political strife in America and assured that many people in Russia want to see relations with the US normal again.
The president said Russia has “many friends” in the US, although “media hysteria” has taken its toll on bilateral relations. Overall, Moscow believes US-Russia relations will return to normal.
