Panama considers Taiwan a part of China
June 13, Beijing: Panama on Tuesday cut diplomatic ties with Taiwan and established new relations with China instead.
Accordding to local media reports, the government has said that it recognises there is "only one China" and that it considers Taiwan part of it. China regards Taiwan as a breakaway province that it insists should be reunited with the mainland.
Meanwhile, Panama is the latest among to join the list of countries that have maintained ties with Taipei instead of Beijing to switch sides, after China intensified its economic investment into the central American country - home of the economically vital Panama Canal.
