    Olympian Oscar Pistorius applies for bail following murder conviction

    Dec 8, Cape Town: South African Olympian Oscar Pistorius wants to take his case to South Africa's Constitutional Court challenging an appeals
    court that convicted him of murdering girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, his lawyer said Tuesday

    He is currently under house arrest after spending one year of his original five-year sentence in jail.

    His lawyer has applied for more stringent house arrest conditions, which have been agreed with the prosecution, to reach a deal on bail, news report said.

    Pistorius now faces a minimum 15-year jail sentence for murdering his girlfriend in 2013.

    Prosecution lawyer Gerrie Nel said he had agreed to more stringent house arrest conditions and to electronic monitoring.
