No survivors in Iran plane Crash: Airlines
Feb 18, Tehran: A passenger plane has crashed in the Zagros mountains of central Iran, killing all 66 passengers onboard the plane.
"All 66 passengers and crew were killed when an Iranian plane crashed into the country’s Zagros mountains on Sunday," an airline spokesman told state television.
“After searches in the area, unfortunately we were informed that the plane crashed. Unfortunately, all our dear ones lost their lives in this incident,” Mohammad Tabatabai, public relations director for Aseman Airlines, told state broadcaster IRIB
According to media reports, the plane, believed to be an ATR 72-500, operated by Aseman Airlines,came down in the Zagros mountains near the city of Semirom in Isfahan province while flying between Tehran and the south-western city of Yasuj.
Iranian authorities have stated that rescue helicopters were unable to reach the crash site earlier due to bad weather.
