July 9, Oslo: A group of  Human Rights Activists, filmmakers and journalists have joined hands to of condemn the attack on the refugee camp housing Iranian opposition leaders inside Iraq. The bombardment   of Camp Liberty near Baghdad on July 4, injured over 40 residents in the camp and has left the rest traumatized.

According to reports, the bombardment caused major destruction in the camp, including fires and deep craters, Shahin Gobadi, a Paris-based spokesperson for the PMOI said.  A report by Reuters also quotes another PMOI spokesperson, Shahriar Kia, saying that the group suspected "Iraqi groups affiliated with the Iranian" government were responsible for the 50 mortar rounds on the camp. The camp houses members of The People's Mujahedeen Organization of Iran (PMOI) who are waiting to be resettled outside the country as its too dangerous for them inside Iran. The camp had also been targeted in a rocket attack last year that killed at least 26 people.

The Open Letter which has been signed by The Oslo Times Journalists and 96 other activists, also urges global governments to stop all Human Rights violations against defenseless people in the region, especially in Iran, which is chaired by IRI.

    The Open Letter:

We Condemn the Rockets Attack on Defenseless Iranian Exiles at Camp Liberty in Iraq.
