French driver killed in accident caused by migrants
June 20, Paris: The French authorities say a van driver was killed today in accident caused by UK-bound migrants blocking a road on the outskirts of Calais.
“Nine Eritrean migrants have been detained.” administration for the Pas-de-Calais region said. A group of migrants had used rubble and branches ripped from nearby trees to halt traffic between junctions 49 and 50 on the busy Dunkirk – Calais stretch of the road forcing three large trucks to stop. It said a smaller truck then crashed into one of those trucks and caught on fire. The driver's identity is unclear.
Their plan was to stop vehicles so that they could get aboard lorries heading for the south coast of England. Police arrived within 10 minutes, and the Eritreans were all arrested at the scene.
