Australia to take 12,000 Syrian refugees
Sept.9, Sydney: Australia has announced that it would take 12,000 Syrian migrants amid crisis in EU. Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said that Australia would accept the Syrian refugees on top of its current humanitarian intake.
Australia will take the migrants from the prosecuted minorities. That is on top of the 13,750 overall refugee intake for 2015.
He said that the emphasis would be on providing protection for women, children and families from persecuted minorities who have sought temporary refuge in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey.
